We recently had a UPVC door frame fitted, I now need to drill into it for two reasons. The first is to install the doorbell; this will be a hole of about 5mm width to allow the bell push to sit flat. The second reason is to allow the Christmas lights to feed outside; this will be a small hole near the bottom, just large enough for a couple of wires.
I have heard that there might be a strip of metal within the door frame, will this cause a problem when drilling?
Does anyone have any advice to how to best go about this?
The bell push/lights have to go in the doorframe as the adjacent wall is too thick.
The manufacturer of the frame has agreed these holes will not void the warranty.
