How can you tell the difference between a masonry drill bit and a steel drill bit?

Pvcu Windows & Doors - save energy and install new energy efficient pvcu windows.

I need to drill a hole through some metal: specifically through a UPVC door frame which has a strip of metal in the centre to strengthen it.

I already have a collection of drill bits but how am I to know which would be suitable for the job?
